Liz Swain - Trustee

CWNN has always been a source of inspiration and joy for me, first as an audience member, then as a volunteer, and then finally as a director of one of the choirs for 4 years. The choir has taught me huge amounts about participation, inclusion and the power of community in that time, and I look forward to continuing to learn more as a member on the board.

As a freelance performer and choir director, I’m honoured to be able to bring my industry experience to the team. My performances have included festivals and venues around the world, including The Proms, The Montreux Jazz Festival, Cantat Europa Estonia, The London Jazz Festival, La Scala Milan, the BBC, Rai Uno (Italy), on film soundtracks for Marvel and Disney Studios, and with artists and groups such as Paco Pena, The Swingles and The Heritage Orchestra.

I am passionate about music education and have directed choirs and workshops around the UK and beyond for the last 15 years, including projects for the Southbank’s Voicelab initiative, office choirs for national newspapers and charities, and as a trainer for ‘Singing For Lung Health’ (Formerly the British Lung Foundation, now ‘The Musical Breath’).
Bringing communities together through music and pushing the creative boundaries of choral music in the UK are two of my passions; I am excited to be able to combine both at CWNN!
