Alex James, Choir Manager (Cardiff)

Hi, I’m Alex, and I’m the Choir Manager for the Choir with No Name Cardiff. I’ve spent over 25 years working across music, the arts, charity fundraising, and healthcare but the common thread through all of it is community and making a difference. I love creating welcoming spaces where people feel supported, included, and able to shine.

Music has been part of my life for more than three decades. I’ve performed in concert halls across the UK and abroad, including several appearances at the Royal Albert Hall, and I’m also the Band Manager of a brass band in Cardiff. I enjoy bringing people together through music, whether on stage, in rehearsal, or in the heart of a community.

Before joining CWNN, I spent 17 years with Tŷ Cerdd and National Youth Arts Wales, coordinating national programmes and supporting young musicians from across Wales to represent their country through music, dance, and theatre. I later worked within cancer services in Wales, first in fundraising and more recently in direct support roles, where I strengthened my commitment to compassion, wellbeing, and person‑centred care.

Having volunteered and sung with the Choir with No Name myself, I’ve seen firsthand just how much joy, connection, and confidence the choir brings to people’s lives. I’m thrilled to be part of the team and to help our members feel valued, welcomed, and part of something truly special.
