We want to hear about your experiences of leading group singing and your confidence, skills and experience in making it inclusive and accessible.

Why?

We know that group singing can be incredibly powerful, physically, mentally, socially. There are choirs for dementia, choirs with people experiencing homelessness, choirs in prisons and much more. Our community choirs have recently had a resurgence as people seek community and connection.

We also know leading choirs and singing groups is a skilled job, one which is often done by people working as alone or as freelancers and it is difficult to get the training and support to really develop skills and confidence. Whilst we want our choirs to be diverse, inclusive and accessible, this can also mean we can feel out of our depth or without knowledge to underpin our practice.

We are interested in understanding the skills, experience and confidence of UK choir leaders in leading inclusive and accessible choirs and we’d love to hear from you about your experiences. Depending on the results of the survey, we may develop training and/or support opportunities for choir leaders in the future. Your answers will help to shape that.
