Lucy Alexander, Choir Manager (Sheffield)
Hi, I’m Lucy, and I feel incredibly lucky to be the Choir Manager for Sheffield’s Choir With No Name and part of such a welcoming, inspiring community. With seven years’ experience in the homelessness sector, I understand how vital connection, routine, and belonging are in overcoming isolation and loneliness.
The Choir With No Name is a shining example of this, bringing joy and community together week after week. Although I don’t come from a musical background, music has always been a source of comfort and happiness for me. One of my favourite moments so far has been our first rendition of Don’t You Want Me—it still gives me shivers and ranks up there with seeing Stevie Wonder live at Glastonbury.
Since joining the choir, I sing constantly (thankfully my children don’t mind), it's the accompanying 'cringe dancing' they are not so comfortable with. I love being bold and setting myself new challenges every few months—my next one is Total Warrior, a 12k run packed with wild obstacles.
I’m passionate about supporting people to discover the confidence and magic that can come from that bold first step. Being playful is very important to me, as David Hockney says, 'If you're not playful, you're not alive'.
