The Big Issue: Watch Supergrass star Gaz Coombes’ new single with choir for homeless people

Since 2008, the Choir with No Name has harnessed the power of song to offer people impacted by homelessness a safe space where they can express themselves without being labelled or judged. Earlier this year, their Birmingham choir acquired a surprise guest member – Supergrass frontman and Mercury nominated solo artist Gaz Coombes.
Together, they recorded a live version of Coombes’s single, Long Live the Strange and filmed a music video which has been released on Coombes’s YouTube channel today. You can watch the video below. The single will also be hitting streaming services soon.

Gaz Coombes has shared a new version of ‘Long Live The Strange’.
The revered British songwriter recently completed another sold out nationwide tour, dipping into his evergreen catalogue. When Gaz Coombes visiting Birmingham, the team from The Choir With No Name sent him an invite.
The organisation run safe singing communities with people impacted by homelessness and marginalisation, and their Birmingham choir linked with Gaz Coombes. Inviting to join the venerable songwriter – and his band – at the Mill in Digbeth, a pre-gig run through saw the musicians radically alter his solo gem ‘Long Live The Strange’.

Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards - full list of amazing winners

The amazing winners of this year's Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards with TSB have been officially announced. The Awards celebrate extraordinary achievements of people of all ages, from children of courage to lifesaving emergency workers, inspirational fundraisers and people who make the world a better place, in local communities and on a national or even global scale.
Winners were chosen by the Pride of Britain judging panel from a shortlist drawn up after tens of thousands of public nominations were received. Winners will be honoured at a star-studded awards dinner at Grosvenor House in London on October 8, hosted by Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo...
We are so proud of Marie, our founder, who amongst so many inspirational people, was named this year's TSB Community Hero, for her work with our choirs. Remember to tune in to ITV, Thursday 12th October at 8pm to see her accept the award, as well as a surprise performance from some familar faces alonside a major British singing legend!
BBC Wales: Cardiff choir for homeless people aims to sing away worries

Homeless people are turning to a traditional Welsh pastime to help deal with everyday pressures and rebuild their confidence - choir singing.
Cardiff is one of the newest UK cities to host a branch of The Choir With No Name, an organisation set up for people who have experienced homelessness.
It aims to provide them a safe environment to "sing away their worries".
"We're not just a choir, we are a family," said Richard Sprake.
He was one of the first members when the Cardiff choir launched at the end of 2021 and said singing with a group has been amazing for him...
