Having both worked with and lived amongst and on the edge of homelessness and homeless communities my whole life, I have a deep and personal understanding of why having somewhere safe and secure to live, where you can feel stable and “at home” is fundamental to a basic sense of wellbeing, and how those who don’t have this are in a daily battle to maintain even the smallest sense of positivity and hope.
There are many fantastic and essential services that offer support for homeless people to manage the immense challenges they need to get through each day just to survive, but the Choir With No Name is a service that brings something totally unique – each week each choir brings joy into peoples lives – giving them a true community where they genuinely bond together through singing – lifting everyone up and filling them with hope and positivity!! It’s truly wonderful stuff!
I am an abysmal singer, but standing amongst the members of the Choir With No Name is one of the most joyful experiences I have ever felt and so to be working to support this fantastic community is an absolute privilege!
