Cat - community participation manager

It feels fairly obvious to say, but music is magic. Especially when you experience it with others! I’ve been lucky enough to have a very creative life, with theatre, dance and music all playing a huge part in what makes me, me. I’m very excited to be joining the national Choir with No Name team as Community Participation Manager to support others to engage with creative arts in the way I have been so lucky to do.

Alongside this role (which is part-time), I am also a freelance arts practitioner working with other arts charities and CICs in roles such as producing, youth programme development, project management, artistic direction and dance teaching.

The golden thread through my life is community, and I hold a deep passion for fostering community spaces which feel inclusive, warm and welcoming, where unexpected and beautiful relationships grow and the unachievable becomes the achievable through the strength of the collective. I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to work with the incredible national choirs and to support the development of these powerful, supportive and creative communities. As one choir member lyricised in a session I visited this week “If you hold me, I won’t let go”, the clever bit being that whilst this beautifully and poetically describes the support which members, staff and volunteers offer each other, it also applies very well to the abseiling event they were writing the lyrics for!

If you haven’t seen a gig yet, you need to. And if you are interested in The Choir With No Name coming to your community, drop us a line!
