CWNN Liverpool perform at Liverpool Loves You

Liverpool Loves You, a LGBTQ+ inclusive community celebration, marks International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB), Tuesday 17th May.

We were thrilled to sing and unite with many other local communities to take a stand against hate and celebrate Liverpool as a welcoming and safe space for LGBTQ+ people. It was a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon and CWNN Liverpool choir did what we do best; belted out uplifting anthems, spread joy and optimism and, of course, gave an incredible performance!

Our choir member Steve sums up with a poem, written the day before:

Tomorrow our lives begins...
Here we come
Singing for fun
And to help us all
We will all stand ten feet tall
No one will fall
Out of the arms of Choir with No Name

- Steve, Liverpool choir member

Liverpool Parish Church hosted the event showcasing the art, music and words of faith and non-faith groups alike. The Mayor, Joanne Anderson joined to raise the Pride flag and the event concluded with an anti-hate crime vigil. Our choir manager, Ema, took to stage to express why it was so important that CWNN was a part of this special event.

A disproportionate number of young people who identify as LGBTQIA+ experience homelessness and face additional discrimination and isolation, so it felt important for us to be a part of this beautiful event, witnessing the raising of the Progress Flag and adding our voice to a message of love and inclusion. - Ema, Liverpool choir manager

We are so proud to have been part of such an inspiring day, standing with our local communities and showing our love for Liverpool and the amazing people of the city.

We really were on top form today and I think it was because of the event and its reason for happening today.  I hope we helped everyone to hear our message of Love, Kindness and coming together to share that today was a joy and pleasure. - Linda, Liverpool choir member

Great gig today. So proud to be an advocate of inclusion - Ant, Liverpool choir member

It was a fantastic and wonderful audience too. We all did fantastic thanks to Ema, Mersey and Jonathan. It was such a brilliant gig….it’s a privilege being in such the best choir in Liverpool - Phil, Liverpool choir member

You’re a special team who work together to make special days and nights, thank you from my heart. – Pauline, Liverpool choir member
